The La Quinta Arts Festival: The Best Of The West

Every year, La Quinta, California hosts one of the most popular art shows in the state. The art show is a community event, and is typically held during the first couple of weeks of March. In 2012, it will run for four days with a total cost of $15 covering admission for the entire festival for an adult. If you are bringing children under 12, admission is free for them. You'll find plenty to do at the La Quinta Arts Festival.

The Purpose

The purpose of the art festival is to promote the arts, rather than to accomplish something specifically commercial. Plenty of artists, of course, make the journey to La Quinta to sell their wares at the show, but there is much more to do at this event than shop. The event is also known for drawing some excellent food vendors and for having some of the best live entertainment provided by the city all year. This makes it a popular family event and not just a destination for those who are shopping for upscale art.

The Reputation

There are plenty of community art shows held throughout the nation. In reality, many of them are not places where you will find the highest quality art. According to many different trade publications and travel publications, however, the La Quinta art show is one of the best in the West and, quite possibly, one of the best in the nation. You'll find art on par with anything you would find in galleries in the major art centers of the United States. Even among the many excellent art shows that are part of the American West, this one stands out.

What To Expect

The upcoming 2012 La Quinta Arts Festival will be the 30th annual event. As you may have guessed, this will be quite an occasion and, if you haven't been to the Arts Festival before, 2012 would be a good year to go. The event is sponsored by the community itself and visitors are encouraged to take a look at the local shops and restaurants, in addition to perusing the artwork for sale. There are plenty of ways that you can volunteer to help with the art festival as well, particularly if you are local to La Quinta itself.

If you've been looking for a reason to visit the Palm Springs, California area, the La Quinta Arts Festival is a good excuse. A stellar national reputation and excellent selection of artists mean that it is truly something to see.
